JUNE

June 1 – Feast of the Holy Trinity (Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni)
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni, patron saint of Lefkada, celebrates the Holy Trinity with splendid religious ceremonies and a gathering of pilgrims from all over the island. The festival combines spiritual devotion with local traditions and offers a unique opportunity to experience the true religious tradition of Lefkada.

June 1–8 – PHOTOCELL: The Art of Photography Through the “Invisible Threads”
A photography exhibition that explores the concept of “Invisible Threads” through the work of various artists, connecting life, relationships, and memory. An opportunity to discover the local and contemporary art scene.

June 6 – Pre-Feast Vespers of the Holy Spirit (Holy Monastery of Faneromeni)
The start of the religious festival of the Holy Spirit is marked by the pre-feast vespers in the afternoon at the Holy Monastery of Faneromeni, where the faithful gather to prepare spiritually for the coming days.

June 7 – Open Farm Days at Lefkada Micro Farm
A unique experience at Lefkada’s open-air museum and visitor farm, where you can learn how the famous olive oil is produced from the white olive tree, sample traditional products, and enjoy a connection with nature through guided tours and activities.

June 7 – Festive Vespers of Pentecost (Holy Monastery of Faneromeni)
On the evening of the same day, at the Holy Monastery of Faneromeni, the Festive Vespers of Pentecost are held, an important religious ceremony that culminates the religious festival.

June 8 – Hierarchical Divine Liturgy (Holy Monastery of Faneromeni)
Pentecost begins with an archiepiscopal Divine Liturgy early in the morning, followed by a procession of the Holy Icon, which is the central event of the festival.

June 9 – Matins and Hierarchical Concelebration (Holy Monastery of Faneromeni)
The final day of the festival includes Matins in the morning and a concelebration, with the procession concluding the rich program of religious events.

June 13 – Connect Ionian Festival
At the New Beach Square in Lefkada, this festival offers a celebration of music and culture, with live performances by local and international artists, creating a lively atmosphere.

JULY

July 6 – Feast of Saint Kyriaki (Lygia)
One of the island’s most beloved festivals, held in the picturesque village of Lygia. The festival combines religious worship with traditional flavors, live music, and local dances, drawing locals and visitors alike into a festive atmosphere.

July 18 — “Neither Forward Nor Backward”
An enjoyable satirical comedy by Thanasis Papathanassiou and Michalis Reppas, which humorously exposes the absurdity of everyday life. The cast features well-known actors such as Chrysa Ropa and Antonis Loudaros. A performance that will make you laugh and think at the same time.

July 21 — “Another Thebes”
A contemporary play by Sergio Blanco, directed by Vangelis Theodoropoulos, starring Thanos Lekkas in the role of a writer. A performance full of intensity and depth, with Dimitris Kapouranis standing out as the recipient of the Dimitris Horn Award.

July 26 — “He and He”
A classic and beloved play that blends the theater of the absurd with satire and irreverent humor. Directed by Alexandros Rigas, with prominent actors such as Giorgos Konstantinos and Dimitris Starovas, the performance promises a subversive and hilarious experience.

July 28 — Sophocles’ *Philoctetes*
A masterpiece of ancient tragedy in which Odysseus devises a ruse, starring Giorgos Kimoulis and Dimitris Gotsopoulos. A journey into Greek mythology with a contemporary and dramatic style.

July 30 — “Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller
The American playwright’s masterpiece, which explores the life of a desperate street vendor and the dream of success in capitalist society. A performance full of tension and psychological depth.

July 31 – Theater Performance
The comedy “Grandpa Has High Blood Pressure” by Dimitra Papadopoulou comes to Lefkada on July 31, at the Lefkada Open-Air Theater, at 9:30 PM. Laughter, twists, and grandfathers with… high blood pressure in an enjoyable evening! Tickets: €20 (€18 reduced).

Throughout July – Festival of Words and Art
The Lefkada Cultural Center is organizing a rich program featuring theater performances, music concerts, art exhibitions, and literary evenings. These events are a long-standing cultural institution on the island, attracting art lovers from all over Greece.

AUGUST

August 1 — Tsouvelas | EXOGINOS
The unpredictable Alexandros Tsouvelas takes us on a journey with improvisation, multilingualism, and unique comic genius. A performance full of humor and original effects that keep the audience captivated.

August 4 — Sophocles’ “Antigone”
One of the greatest tragedies of ancient Greece, directed by Themis Moumoulidis, starring Lena Papaligoura in the title role. A gripping drama about the clash between law and morality, which remains timeless.

August 6 — “Helen: The Trial of a Prostitute” by Miguel Del Arco
A monologue that debunks the myths surrounding Helen of Troy, starring Lydia Koniordou and featuring live music by legendary guitarist Babis Papadopoulos. A performance full of intensity, history, and music.

August 6 – Lentil Festival in Englouvi
At the little church of Agios Donatos, lentil farmers celebrate the harvest with traditional recipes, music, and dancing. It’s worth a visit for authentic flavors and a lively festival.

August 6 – Festival of the Savior in Nikiana
A traditional festival featuring local food and live music.

August 11 – Reenactment of a Lefkada Wedding in Karya
The customs of a traditional wedding are presented, offering a unique cultural heritage experience.

August 13 – “I Am My Wife”
An award-winning monologue that tells the true story of Charlotte Von Mahlsdorf, Germany’s most famous transgender woman, who survived two oppressive regimes. Antonis Loudaros embodies thirty different roles in a performance full of emotion and power.

Throughout August – Lefkada International Folklore Festival
Music and dance groups from around the world participate in events that promote cultural exchange and local traditions.

August 20–24 – Wine Festival in Frya (Asprogera)
A festival dedicated to local wine, featuring tastings and traditional music.

Varkarola in Lefkada and Lygia
A traditional festival featuring music and dancing by the sea, usually in mid- to late August.

Sardine Festival in Vlycho
A culinary festival celebrating the region’s traditional sardines, with music and dancing.

SEPTEMBER

September 4–11 – “Rest in Motion” Dance Workshops
Workshops on physical expression and creativity with themed sessions,
suitable for dancers and dance enthusiasts.

September 27 – October 1 – “Sun
Sparks” Arts Festival
An international festival featuring dance, choir, and orchestra performances that provides a platform for

July 29 – MIRACULOUS: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir
A spectacular musical featuring special effects and thrilling action scenes for the whole family. Children’s favorite heroes come to life with stunning sets and lighting.

August 19 – Mowgli and The Jungle Book
A performance full of imagination and music that brings the classic hero Mowgli to the stage. A journey exploring values such as friendship, freedom, and self-awareness.

August 11 – Beauty and the Beast
A magical journey with projections, choreography, and songs, perfect for young and old alike. A performance full of beauty and magic.

Music

July 28 – Panagiotis Margaris: “Mediterranean”
A tribute to the musical gems of the Mediterranean by the leading guitarist, featuring Portuguese fados and compositions by great composers. Joining him is singer Madeleine Harcourt.

August 12 – Panos Vlachos
A unique concert full of improvisation, songs, and an anarchic spirit from the multi-talented actor and singer-songwriter.

August 22 – Pyx Lax
The legendary Greek rock band returns to the stage to treat us to their beloved melodies and rhythms.

August 3 – Lefkada Philharmonic Society
A classical evening featuring the Philharmonic’s melodies, setting the summer night ablaze.

August 8 – Mandolinata and “Orpheus” Mixed Choir
A magical concert featuring the iconic Maria Farantouri, filled with traditional and contemporary sounds.
