In a quiet area near the sea, the old salt pans of Alexander’s the Great era reveal the tradition of salt production started by the Venetians in 1684. The ideal weather conditions were sun, wind, and sea that allowed seawater to evaporate naturally, forming precious salt. Operation ceased in 1989, but the area is now a historic monument and part of the Natura 2000 network. It is perfect for a peaceful stroll in a place frozen in time.
